Once received and inspected for completion and condition, your refund will be processed within 2 billing cycles and typically within 7-10 business days. Any damaged, defective, or missing items will reduce the amount refunded or count against the exchange value. For online or phone purchases, Bob’s Discount Furniture will cover standard return shipping costs using our pre-paid return labels. Customers are responsible for properly packaging items to avoid damage during transit. For special order items or large furniture returns, Bob’s will schedule carrier pickups for customer convenience whenever possible.

Exchanges incur no shipping costs for replacement items sent to U.S. addresses. International shipping costs vary by location and will be calculated during checkout. Customers are responsible for all import duties, taxes, tariffs, customs fees, insurance costs, and other charges which may apply.

For in-store purchases returned by mail rather than at a Bob’s location, customers are responsible for return shipping costs and proper packaging to avoid damage. In-store pickup of online orders being returned for refund must still be shipped with a Bob’s issued return label.

Refunding Sales Tax

Bob’s Discount Furniture remits collected sales taxes to state authorities on your behalf. For eligible returns, sales tax paid at time of purchase will be refunded.

Return Abuse

To ensure fair pricing and availability of merchandise for all customers, Bob’s Discount Furniture reserves the right to limit returns deemed excessive based on purchase history, return frequency, money spent, and other data points. Generally, less than 10% of purchases returned over 12 months is considered reasonable for an average customer.

Those suspected of abuse may have current and future returns fully or partially denied and be restricted from taking advantage of future sales, discounts, or promotions for a minimum period of 90 days from last return. Return abuse negatively impacts the customer experience for all and necessitates these policies to discourage exploitation of our generous guarantees. We appreciate your understanding.


How long do I have to return an item I purchased?

Most regular priced items can be returned within 90 days of original purchase date. Mattresses have a 30 day comfort guarantee. Clearance or As-Is items marked final sale cannot be returned unless found defective.

Can I return an item purchased as a gift for someone else?

Yes, items purchased at Bob’s Discount Furniture may be returned by the gift recipient with the original payment receipt. For the protection of all customers, photo identification verifying information on the receipt may requested when refund value exceeds $250. The refund or exchange amount will be determined based on the price paid at time of purchase indicated on the receipt.

What is the return policy for mattresses or specialty bedding?

Mattresses and foundations may be ‘comfort exchanged’ one time within 30 days if they do not work for your individual comfort preferences. Our sleep specialists will happily assist in exchanging your mattress for a comparable model believed better suited for your sleep needs. Clearance or floor model mattresses cannot be comfort exchanged.

Pillows, mattress pads, and other bedding items are not eligible for comfort exchange or return if opened packaging due to health precautions. We recommend carefully reviewing available sleep trial periods before purchasing.

How do I arrange for pickup or return shipping on large items like couches?

For specialty items or large furniture pieces originally delivered or shipped freight from Bob’s, our customer service team can schedule convenient curbside collection for return to a regional warehouse for processing. Bob’s will cover standard return freight costs at our discretion for eligible online purchases returned within policy limits.

How can I easily determine if an item is eligible for return prior to purchasing?

On every Bob’s Discount Furniture product page on, near the Add to Cart button you will see return eligibility clearly stated. On eligible items, this will say “Free Returns” along with basic exclusions. Pages for items with restricted return policies will explain particular requirements and limitations before adding the item to your cart. How do I request a refund for items purchased with promotional financing through Bob’s credit services?

For returns on purchases made using Bob’s credit financing options like our everyday credit card or longer term promotional credit plans, the total purchase amount financed will be credited back to your account. This may take 1-2 billing cycles to appear depending on timing within your current statement period.

Who pays for return shipping – me or Bob’s?

Bob’s Discount Furniture will cover standard ground return freight costs within the continental USA for eligible online purchases returned complete and in new condition within 90 days. We provide pre-paid return labels for convenient self-shipping of smaller parcels under our threshold weight. Larger items may qualify for free pick up at our discretion when coordinated through customer service for return to the closest appropriate warehouse facility. Customers are responsible for properly protecting items against damage during transit. Lost or damaged returns remain the responsibility of the customer to resolve by filing claims with the shipping carrier. Any issues with freight collected by Bob’s authorized carriers should be promptly reported by contacting customer service for assistance.

What form of refund will I receive – original payment method or store credit?

To provide flexibility for customers, Bob’s issues refunds for eligible returns in the original payment form up to $2000. This means returns for purchases made by credit or debit cards will be processed as credits to that same account. Cash payments under $250 may receive cash refunds upon verified in-store returns. Checks or other payment methods will be refunded by check from our corporate office.

For returns without receipts or other refunds exceeding $2000 limit to original payment method, Bob’s store credit will be provided instead. This never expires, has no fees, and may used at any location or on to purchase anything we offer. Photo identification will be necessary to redeem store credit balances over $250.

What steps do I take to return or exchange something ordered online?

For any items purchased on which need to be returned or exchanged, simply login to your account and navigate to your Orders page. Select the order with the item you wish to return and click Request Return. Our system will generate a free pre-paid return shipping label to attach to your parcel for dropping off at any UPS location or scheduling a free pickup. Once received at our warehouse your refund will be processed automatically based on original payment details. Alternately, give our customer service team a call and we can handle everything over the phone if you prefer. Exchanges for replacement items in different styles, colors, etc. can be requested in the same way. We’ll ship out your exchange selection quickly with no additional shipping fees beyond potential pricing differences.
